Charles Wilkinson: Laws of the Land
Charles Wilkinson is an environmental attorney and expert on public land, Indian law and water law. He gives us a lesson about some interesting history regarding our western resources. Then tells a great story about his unexpected role in creating the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument in Utah, which was authorized by President Bill Clinton and later reduced substantially by President Donald Trump. This is a very educational video about public lands in the West, Indian Tribe land management, and water law. With climate change, water capture will be a problem, especially in California where the snow is melting faster. Mr. Wilkinson notes that our “Instincts to build overrule instincts we really don’t have — which is to be more careful with water.”
